Our youth and young adults are what make this choir so special. The adults in this choir strive to lead by example and mentor our young people, support them, and celebrate their victories and accomplishments. Music opens doors for the growth of these relationships. We are committed to maintaining relationships and supporting our youth as they become young adults. For the safety of all, we require background checks for anyone working directly with youth beyond reguarly scheduled rehearsal time (mentors, drivers, etc.)
Mentor
One of the unique and impactful aspects of our choir is the mentoring that takes place though music. Our youth and adults sit side by side, learning (and yes, sometimes struggling) together. This creates an opportunity for organic mentoring as we rehearse. Many of our adult mentors continue to cultivate connections and supportive, healthy relationships with our youth outside of the time we spend together singing.

Support
Above and beyond the daily challenges that come with any life, our young people experience complex and stressful situations. When our community is rocked by violence or traumatic events, we pause, check in, and have open dialogue with our youth to help them process the situation and their feelings. When a youth is struggling with their own issues, their "choir family" can also be a source of support and positive coping techniques.

Everyone deserves to have their accomplishments, successes, and joyful moments recognized! As a community, we are here to uplift and cheer on our youth. We celebrate birthdays and adoptions, attend school plays and graduations, and arrange special events with and for our youth. |
