Soar Youth and Adult Choir relies on volunteers to support our operations. Maybe you're not a singer, maybe our rehearsals don't fit into your schedule right now, maybe you are already singing with us and just want to do a little more to help Soar thrive. There are many ways you can get involved. These volunteer areas are a smaller, more targeted commitment than joining the Board and allow you to draw on your natural talents!
- Fundraising and Grant Writing
- If you are detail oriented and excel at championing the benefits of Soar Youth and Adult Choir, want to build connections and enjoy networking, you can support the mission and vision of Soar by identifying potential partners, seeking corporate donors, and soliciting sponsorship.
- A benefit of volunteering for this role is that it is incredibly flexible. Most of this work can be done on your schedule and doesn't require set hours or in-person interactions.
- Outreach and Networking
- Is the phrase "people person" often used to describe you? If you're enthusiastic about the mission of Soar and want to help the choir grow and flourish, we need your voice! You would be seeking out complementary organizations, choirs, schools, and youth advocacy groups to engage new choir members - both youth and adults.
- A benefit of supporting outreach and networking is that you get to build connections to the community outside of the choir. As an outreach volunteer, you may also be a first point of contact for new members and would build connections within the choir as well.
- Food and Event Support
- If the kitchen is your happy place, and you love to organize and plan, this is the volunteer job for you. We know that eating together creates a space for authentic connection and building relationships. You would be responsible for supporting the planning, prepping, serving, and cleaning up that goes into serving dinner, our annual pie fundraiser, and post-concert receptions.
- A benefit of this role is that it can be a short-term or recurring responsibility. It allows you to step in and out. It is also something that can be done at the same time as rehearsal, allowing you to be part of the choir community without having to sing in the choir. You'll get to know and build relationships with the members of the choir as well as other volunteers. And we all know that everyone loves it when someone cooks for them, so you can be sure that you'll receive plenty of appreciation from our choir members!
- Transportation Support
- We often have youth who need additional support getting to and from rehearsals. If you enjoy making one on one connections, have a great driving record, and don't mind a bit of traffic or driving at night, we're looking for you! Maybe you live in Thornton but work in the Tech Center, you could pick up youth on your way home and drop them at rehearsal before heading home for the evening.
- This volunteer opportunity is contingent on a background check and clean driving record.
- A benefit of this volunteer role is that it's a limited, scheduled responsibility. This commitment would be Wednesday evenings. While we sometimes have volunteers who are happy to drive both to and from rehearsal, we also would welcome anyone able to just drop off or take home youth.
