Emily martinMusic DirectorI came to SOAR! after 35 years of teaching music in all grade levels in Colorado public schools, including 10 years teaching high school choir in a district of high risk students. My passion for creating and supporting opportunities for youth led me to become a co-founder of the Colorado Middle School All State Choir.
I joined SOAR Youth and Adult Choir as artistic director in 2016. My creative goals with SOAR! include collaboration with other music groups and organizations that enhance the well-being of foster, adopted, and at-risk children and kinship families. Working with youth and adults, singing meaningful music is a dream come true! |
stephanie bullenPresidentMy debut was a show-stopping performance of "Love Potion #9" in my 5th grade talent show. I sang in school choirs through high school but, like many of our adult choir members, after graduation I lost touch with singing for many years before finding the choir.
This choir proves that music is a universal language. People of varied backgrounds and experience levels work together, creating something that is so much greater than the sum of our individual parts. In the process, we find commonalities and create relationships. Each member contributes something that is irreplaceable, unique, and impactful. The people who contribute, volunteer, and support this choir are exactly what makes SOAR, well, soar. |
Tina petersontreasurerI’ve been part of SOAR! from the very beginning. I graduated from college a few years prior and a friend approached me about a new choir whose mission was to sing with foster and adopted children. Having been adopted - and knowing what challenges adoption can bring - I was in. From our first concert, I knew this choir was something special, that it was going to change lives, and I wanted to be a part of that.
Seeing the challenges our youth encounter every day and watching them overcome those challenges is truly spectacular. It speaks volumes about the kind of people they are and will become. I know that SOAR! gives our youth - and the adults - the opportunity to have support through community, mentorship, and music that they won’t find anywhere else. |
